Immediately after the merit lists of a university are
released and the names of some students do not appear on these lists, the
affected students begin to look for alternate means of ensuring that all the
money and time spent reading for and writing JAMB does not go to waste. This
leads to desperate measures that can lead to loss of relevant information and
even loss of money.
Due to the desperation of students to know about the release
of another list (hope that they will not be spending yet another year at home),
students end up getting wrong information and spending unnecessary cash on
irrelevant things –this is a perfect avenue for swindlers!
This year, however, due to the delay in the release of the
merit list by the University Board, false rumour is going round that there will
still be (or not be) the sale of supplementary forms. The truth about the
matter is that right now, supplementary forms are not on sale yet, and there
will be no release of a second list.
In the same vein, some students have actually heard some form
of directives that supplementing will take place in the office of the various
Heads of the Departments the student might want to go into. This has already
been proven to be a lie, but because some students are just concerned with making
matters worse by spreading false rumour and even giving fake evidences that
they had purchased supplementary forms in the office of the Head of the
Department they wish to be offered admission into.
The Director of Information for the Students Union
Government, Comrade Inyene Dominic, has openly declared that the news about a second
list is false and should not be accepted by any aspiring (or returning)
students. Students that are interested in being admitted successfully into the
university must desist from spreading rumour so that when the right information
comes through, it will be treated importantly.
